CCA was so impressed with the Ashburn Library project that they submitted it for the StarNet Design Awards for 2003. Commercial Carpets of America, Inc. is a member of StarNet, the largest commercial flooring cooperative in the U.S. with 160 locations across the country. CCA was selected by Tucon Construction to provide Lees broadloom carpet, carpet tile and Forbo linoleum for this Phillips Swager Associates (PSA) designed project.
The Ashburn Library, located in eastern Loudoun County along the Dulles Technology Corridor in Northern Virginia, was designed as a functionally attractive 23,000 square foot neighborhood facility. The seventh branch of the Loudoun County Public library housed an opening day collection of 70,000 items that included printed, audio-visual and electronic material.
According to James Beight, PSA's Principal Designer, "The building design focused on two forms: a large elliptical glass structure capped with a metal canopy and an open stack area emphasized by a series of vaulted metal roofs. The elliptical form is illuminated at night acting as a beacon of knowledge, while the vaulted roofs accentuate the light-filled stack areas."
Beight went on to say, "The exterior materials were carried inside the library to create a uniformity of materials. The interior color palette of red, rust, blues and grays also reflect the exterior materials as well as the history of Ashburn, VA. Carpet and paint accents were used throughout the library to accentuate program spaces and create warmth throughout the interior. Interior materials were chosen for both their aesthetic and performance qualities. The interior reflects the programmed functions of the facility."
The library includes a large and appealing children's area and storytime space. There is an area set up to attract young adults and the adult's area includes comfortable reading spaces.

The Ashburn Library is an open and welcoming facility that matches the mission of the Loudoun County Public Library by providing "knowledge inspiration and enjoyment for all."
Another project successfully delivered by CCA's team of professionals.
